Fire Extinguisher Pressure testing & recharging
Design & Installation of fire equipment
It is important that your fire extinguishers are inspected at regular intervals to insure that it is ready for use in case of an emergency.
Extinguisher Services Pty Ltd can provide you with a service and inspection to give assurance that your extinguisher is fully charged and ready for use. The inspection generally involves checking that the extinguisher is located in its proper place, that it has not been used or tampered with, and that there is no physical damage or condition to prevent it from functioning.
Inspections will reveal whether your extinguisher(s) require any necessary repairs, replacement or
Pressure test & recharging.
LEVEL 1: 6 Monthly Extinguisher Maintenance Schedule, consisting of specific extinguisher checks.
LEVEL 2: 12 Monthly Extinguisher Maintenance Schedule, consisting of Level 1 procedures plus other specified functional checks (including recharge of some units).
LEVEL 4: 5 Yearly Extinguisher Maintenance Schedule consisting of Level 1 & 2 procedures plus other specified functional checks including Pressure Tests.
LEVEL 5: After use maintenance schedule consisting of Recharging plus other specified functional checks.

Carbon Dioxide is clean gas which does not leave any harmful residue making it an ideal extinguisher for use where sensitive electronic equipment is present. CO2 is non corrosive and non conductive and is also suitable for small fires involving flammable and combustible liquids.
With a wide range of sizes and equipment types available, there is a FireSafe Extinguisher to suit practically every fire risk in the home, car, caravan or boat to the largest commercial and industrial property.
Identification: Pre 1998 - Red with centre Black Band and Post 1998 - Red with upper level Black Band.
Advantages: Clean medium therefore minimal clean up after use. Ideal for use in environment where there are computers or other sensitive electrical equipment.
Disadvantages: Only limited effectiveness on Class A and Class B Fires - refer Suitability Guide below. Not very effective for use in out-door areas as wind will dissipate the Co2 very quickly.
ABE type powder Extinguishers are the most suitable and effective extinguisher type for use on fires involving paper, textiles and most plastics as well as flammable and combustible liquids. The powder stream is non-conductive so is also safe to use in areas where live electrical current may be present. With a wide range of sizes and equipment types available, there is a FireSafe Extinguisher to suit practically every fire risk in the home, car, caravan or boat to the largest commercial and industrial property.
Identification: Pre 1998 - Red with Centre WHITE Band and Post 1998 - Red with upper level WHITE Band.
Advantages: High performance extinguishers suitable and effective on most fire risks - refer to the Suitability Guide below. Available in a wide range of sizes with either a wall type or a bracket suitable for installation on mobile plant and equipment.
Disadvantages: Dry Powder consists of very fine particles making clean up after discharge difficult. Discharge may cause damage to electrical components - consider a FireSafe CO2 extinguisher as an alternative. Discharge in confined space may obstruct vision.
Foam Extinguishers are specifically designed and effective for use on Class B fires involving flammable and combustible liquids such as petrol, oil and some paints and can also be used to blanket a spill to prevent ignition. Because of its conductivity, foam must not be used where live electrical current is present.
With a wide range of sizes and equipment types available, there is a FireSafe Extinguisher to suit practically every fire risk in the home, car, caravan or boat to the largest commercial and industrial property.
Identification: Pre 1998 - Red with centre BLUE Band, Post 1998 - Red with upper level BLUE Band.
Advantages: Being water based, this extinguisher is also ideal where cooling a fuel is recommended. Foam is also effective in restricting the spread of 'ignitable vapours' from a flammable liquid spill. Refer to the Suitability Guide below.
Disadvantages: Not suitable where live electrical current is present.
Water Extinguishers are specifically designed and effective on Class A fires involving materials such as paper, timber, cardboard and some plastics and will usually be located in properties where there are no fire hose reels installed. Because of its conductivity, water must NOT be used where live electrical equipment is present. With a wide range of sizes and equipment types available, there is a FireSafe Extinguisher to suit practically every fire risk in the home, car, caravan or boat to the largest commercial and industrial property.
Identification: Red with NO coloured Band.
Advantages: Being water based, these extinguishers are ideal where cooling a fuel is recommended. Refer to the Suitability Guide below.
Disadvantages: Not suitable where live electrical current is present.
Wet Chemical Extinguishers give you protection against the most dangerous of all cooking area fires
- burning fat or oil. A liquid extinguishing agent developed specifically for kitchen range, cooking oils and fat fires.
Wet Chemical rapidly converts burning fats or oils into combustion - resistant soap. It has a cooling effect on hot surfaces and suppresses the flames with steam.
Wet Chemical interrupts the process of combustion by excluding air and lowering the temperature of the fat. The soap making action aids in "clean up," which can be accomplished by using water or steam.
Please Note: Care should be taken with electrical equipment
With the majority of fires in the home originating in the kitchen, fire blankets are an essential safety item to smother a fire caused by burning oil or fat in the stove. Locate your fire blanket near the entrance/exit to your kitchen. In the event of a fire, simply pull the tabs to release the blanket from its casing, hold vertically and place gently over the flaming vessel, completely covering the fire. Turn off the power as soon as it is safe for you to reach the switch.
Fire blankets can also be used in situations where a person's clothing has caught fire. The fire blanket can be wrapped around the person to smother the flames.
Please Note: The 1m X 1m sized fire blanket is not large enough for an adult clothing fire; the 1.2m X 1.8m Fire Blanket would be best suited for this purpose.
Fire Blankets are suitable for only one use & will need to be replaced after each application
